Where to register your Domain?

Today, having a good domain is essential to establish your digital presence. Whether you're a budding entrepreneur, a seasoned professional, or a passionate hobbyist, acquiring the right domain is crucial for your online success.

In this blog post, we will explore various domain registrars and assist in finding a suitable domain.

We will review multiple platforms like Cloudflare.com, GoDaddy.com, Namecheap.com, Porkbun.com to identify reliable and secure options for purchasing a domain.

Let's explore each of them.

  1. Cloudflare

Cloudflare is one of the most trusted platform to register domains. Along with its low cost, Cloudflare is highly reliable for your domain security with advanced security features like DDoS protection, Web Application Firewall (WAF), SSL/TLS encryption, and bot mitigation.

They have a hassle free pricing model of charging just $9.77 annually inclusive of ICANN fees so that the customer need not commit for any term and without any increased renewal fees.

  2. GoDaddy

GoDaddy is one of the popular platforms for buying domains, helping us set up domains easily with free domain privacy.

GoDaddy has two pricing options for registering domain:

    1. 3-year term
We can select this option, where we need to pay the total charge for 3 years at once, which amounts to $43.99. There is no option to pay the amount yearly or in installments. Additionally, we will need to pay an ICANN fee of $0.18 per year for certain TLDs (Top Level Domains).

Here's the breakdown of the total price for 3 years:

      1st Year - $0.01

      2nd Year - $21.99

      3rd Year - $21.99

      Total - $43.99

After opting for the 3-year term, if we intend to transfer our domain from GoDaddy to another registrar, the refund for lapsed domain days will be applicable only if we request a refund with GoDaddy's customer service within the refund time frame specified for the applicable product, if available at all.

    2. Year-on-Year basis
We'll be charged $11.99 for the first year and $21.99 for every subsequent year plus an ICANN fee of $0.18 per year for certain TLDs (Top Level Domains).

The pricing models tend to be on the expensive side. They provide significant discounts for the first year on the condition of committing to a three-year term and paying upfront for the entire duration. Overall, the pricing structure can be somewhat confusing, particularly the payment structure for the first year, second year, and subsequent years.

  3. Namecheap

Namecheap is a platform where we can easily buy our preferred domains with their user-friendly features. However, it lacks advanced security and privacy options compared to other providers.

Namecheap offers two pricing options for registering domain:

    1. New Customers
When we sign up using a new email ID for the first time, we become new customers at Namecheap. In this case, we'll be charged just $5.98 for the first year plus ICANN fee of $0.18 per year by applying the promo code NEWCOM598.

    2. Existing Customers
If we're existing Namecheap users, we'll be charged $8.98 for the first year and $13.98 for every subsequent year. Additionally, we'll need to pay an ICANN fee of $0.18 per year.

The pricing may appear inexpensive at first glance, but we need to ensure we are eligible to apply for the promo code. Moreover, the regular pricing model has varying costs for each year, requiring us to calculate our total domain budget carefully.

  1. Porkbun

Porkbun allows us to buy domains at $10.37 per year and renew the following year at the same rate of $10.37. It offers an easy interface for purchasing domains. However, it lacks advanced security and performance optimization, making it ideal for those seeking a straightforward domain registration experience.
